NCABANA Q1 Meeting: “Hammer in the Valley” -Jay Amburgey's Shop
Our Q1 meeting will be held at Jay Amburgey’s shop!
Demonstrations will be performed by Stone Kiker, who was a NCABANA Scholarship Recipient and will be showcasing the pattern welded skills he learned during this time.
This is a great opportunity to bring items for tailgate sales and Jay will even have a Klingspor vendor on hand for all your other project/craft needs, too.
Lunch will be provided by a local scouting group at a cost of $10 a plate (hamburgers, hotdogs, etc.).
This is a family friendly event and you do not need to be a member to attend!
NCABANA Q3 Meeting: Triad Area Blacksmiths
The Triad Area Blacksmiths will be hosting our Q3 meeting at the Winston-Salem Fair Grounds; Blacksmithsuppy will be present in addition to tail gate sales, networking, and traditional Lexington BBQ and other good eats!
NCABANA Q2 Meeting: The Carthage Forge
The Carthage Forge will be hosting our Q2 meeting where Paul Spainhour will be providing an overview of the skills he acquired during his recent NCABANA scholarship (Powerhammer techniques / Ornamental Iron). Matt King will be graciously providing BBQ for all in attendance!
Fire on the Mountain: Spruce Pine, NC
Fire on the Mountain is an annual celebration of the art of the blacksmith that is always held on the last Saturday in April in Downtown Spruce Pine, NC. The event is a partnership between Spruce Pine Main Street, Penland School of Craft, and the Toe River Arts. Each year, the festival contains blacksmith demonstrations, blacksmith vendor booths, youth and adult forge-off, hands-on tents, kids’ activities, food, and more Originating in 2007 as a local festival, the festival was originally called “Hammerin’ on the Toe.” Over time it has grown into one of the largest blacksmith festivals on the East Coast. Thousands gather each year to watch world-renowned blacksmiths forging amazing pieces, using techniques that have been utilized for centuries. Admission to Fire on the Mountain Festival is free to the public.
